Allina Hospitals & Clinics:

Allina Hospitals & Clinics is a not-for-profit organization that consists of 11 hospitals, 62 primary and multi-specialty clinics, more than 40 other hospital based and specialty care clinics, community pharmacies, homecare, hospice, and ambulance transportation services. Being a large healthcare organization, Allina was looking for a tool that had the flexibility to handle a clinical service line level of reporting, while managing the diverse needs of its individual entities yet providing a centralized location to manage their operating budgeting and management reporting processes. Additionally, Allina wanted to maintain all of their financial frameworks in one system that would provide an integrated approach to both the development and reporting of these processes.

With StrataJazz they were able to utilize budgeting models that were not only dynamic, but also created a standardized dataset for reporting across entities. Allina was also able to collaborate with their colleagues and utilize the workflow feature that allowed them to hold individual budget managers accountable for meeting their budgeting deadlines.

Currently, Allina has one central location that manages and develops all of their financial frameworks. Their operating budgeting process was developed to accommodate multiple budgeting methodologies while still providing consolidated reporting across the organization.

Baptist Memorial Healthcare Corporation

Baptist Memorial Healthcare Corporation (BMHCC) was looking for an integrated financial planning system that would allow their end users the ability to have more input in the operating budgeting process. In the past, BMHCC used a home grown operating budgeting platform which was limited in terms of calculations, projections, reporting and collaboration efforts between different levels of the organization.

To assist in their efforts to adopt a more collaborative, system-oriented approach to operating budgeting, BMHCC decided to purchase StrataJazz. Having a flexible operating budgeting system is paramount, since the needs of both individual hospitals and the entire system sometimes conflict and often shift from year to year. The budgeting process also spans a large spectrum of end users, from clinicians to senior leadership, and creating organizational buy-in at all levels is critical for the success of the organization.

BMHCC's operating budgeting process is now structured to ensure that the right people are involved at the right time. This process allows CFOs of each hospital to utilize advance reporting features to analyze budgets across their entities to ensure that global budgeting needs are met.

Rather than having limited user availability and confined reporting, they are now active developers of their budget and are engaged throughout the process.
